Come to Jesus

Our pastor sang this song to conclude his Easter morning message. It was considerably poignant for me.

COME TO JESUS
by Chris Rice

Weak and wounded sinner, lost and left to die
Raise your head for love is passing by
Come to Jesus, come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and live

Now your burden's lifted, and carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain
Sing to Jesus, sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live

And like a newborn baby, don't be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk sometimes we fall... so
Fall on Jesus, fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus and live

Sometimes the way is lonely, and steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain... then
Cry to Jesus, cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus and live

O, and when the love spills over, and music fills the night
And when you can't contain your joy inside... then
Dance for Jesus, dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus and live

And with your final heartbeat, kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace and laugh on glory's side... and
Fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live

I hope your Easter was special.
Our church had a mix of hymns and newer choruses.
    It was very good.

I generally like to hear pastors sing. A lot can't sing very good but people don't tell THEM that.

That's what's good about it for me, I will be singing with these preachers in heaven even though the people won't let me sing here--I'm so bad [singing].

I'm not familiar with the hymn but I love the lyrics and brought back to mind an old one I love titled, "All to Jesus".

I would love to hear Jim sing both now and when. Some of the most beautiful singing I've ever heard was so far off key and so out of step but I can't remember a sweeter sound. ;-)

    I don't know where I've been.
I missed this post. I sang this song at my favorite cousins funeral. Or tried to sing it. It was very hard to do for various reasons. I was behind a wall of flowers and there was no mic and really nobody could hear me. I sang it again at my home church so my mom could hear the words. It will always remind me of my cousin Betsy who died too young at the age of 41.
