Slumber Party

Last night Kate and Madison stayed at our house so their mom and dad could catch up on some sleep. The girls wanted to party at 1:00am and 5:00am, but just long enough to get some nourishment, then they went back to bed. They were as good as gold.

Happy Birthday, Reiley

Reiley turns 3 next Thursday, but his party was today. And what a beautiful, fun-filled day it was.
Here's the balloon that almost got away.
(By the way, it's hard to keep several helium balloons in the back of a car when you open it to put stuff in...)

Here's the long-anticipated train cake. It met all expectations.
(No, Karina didn't make this one. But she wanted to.)

Reiley showing Luke how it's done.

Luke appreciates a good balloon.
Gruncle (great uncle) Phil shows Reiley how it's done.
Graunt (great aunt) Mary making it a trio with Madison and Kate.

Not really an indoor toy, but why not, if you have the space?!

It was a hit! (Thanks Uncle Lucas)

Men on a Mission

With the first springlike day of 2007, Reiley and Luke had a busy time "rearranging" our deck.

Double Your Fun

The girls will be 11 weeks old tomorrow. I finally got some photos of them with their eyes open. They're starting to smile and coo now, but that's hard to catch on film.

Spring Ahead

You know that little owner's manual in the glovebox of your car?
I use mine only twice a year; to remember how to reset the clock.
Life was easier when clocks had hands.

What?!

I went with Karina the other day to the drug store so she could work on editing a photo for the twins' birth announcement (yes, they are ten weeks old, and I said birth announcement... Karina's been just a bit busy). As she was working at the photo kiosk, two infant carseats at her feet, I was helping Reiley give Luke a ride in the shopping cart and trying to keep him from bumping into things, while Luke was reaching for all the plush Easter bunnies and chickies, wanting to hug them all. Both boys were screeching with delight at being out and about (it's been a long, cold winter). After fifteen minutes of trying different things at the photo machine, Karina wasn't satisfied with the results so we decided to leave empty-handed (well, not exactly empty-handed). She picked up the carseats and I took a boy in each hand. A lady, who had been watching us from her place in line at the counter, looked surprised and, pointing to the carseats, said to Karina, "Oh, do you have babies in there?".
Karina says she's going to write a book someday about the reactions they get from people while on family outings.

Babysitting

We're getting plenty of time with these 4 lately.
Luke and Reiley, eating apples. I peel and slice 'em. Reiley is sure to tell me if I miss any peel.
Madison, almost asleep with her dollies.
Kate, snoozing in her rocking chair.

Answered Prayer

Last fall, when we pulled up stakes in Chicago and moved to Smallville, some saw it as a leap of faith, and others simply viewed it as crazy. Maybe it was a little of both. We didn't have employment here, but we took a deep breath, bought a house, and moved. By Christmas Eve we were settled in.
I kept thinking, "It's not such a big thing to ask God to give PR a little church where he could minister, is it?". So, that's what I did.
And He answered.
We visited this little church on January 7th. The following Sunday, January 14th, their young pastor announced he would be leaving the pastorate at the end of February. PR got a phone call on Monday morning and met with some of the leadership for lunch. They asked if he'd be interested in pursuing the possibility.
He was.
Since March 1, 2007 I am a pastor's wife (again). When no one's looking, PR tries his hand at the drums.
(Do you think they'll let him play with the praise team?)

Oatman

Josiah called me this morning to tell me he'd had "Oatman" for breakfast.

Soon?

What do they mean by SOON? The last time we opened a fortune cookie and it said "soon", it took about 10 months. As far as finding more adventure in life, we've got about all we can stand right now.
Now, about that sunshine and relaxation.......
